Clawson Hosts Fire & Spice and Everything Nice

The event will take place from noon-4 p.m. Saturday on West 14 Mile Road.

Downtown Clawson will heat up this Saturday with a chili cook-off, marshmallow drop, bonfire and more during .

The event, set for noon-4 p.m., is a celebration of Clawson's Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 13-19), with proceeds benefiting several local organizations.

Director Joan Horton said the chili cook-off will be one of the highlights, with restaurants and local organizations participating in a contest for the best chili in town.

This is the second time the DDA has hosted a Random Acts of Kindness celebration. Horton said the Saturday event is an expansion of last year's .

"It's going to be a lot more fun," Horton said. "We tried to get every group in town to participate. I think we are going to see a much bigger crowd this year."

The will put on a marshmallow drop for the children, and there will be prizes for those who collect the most marshmallows, Horton said. 

In addition to food and games, there will also be a chain saw artist show at the event.

Charities that will benefit from the event include the , the band, the Kenwood Parent Teacher Association, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Attendees should look for a large, heated tent on West 14 Mile Road in the lot next to .
