Clawson to Host 5K Freedom Run Sunday

Runners get ready. The annual 5K Freedom Run will take place Sunday evening, beginning at the north entrance of .

The 5K race will start at 7:30 p.m. and a separate 1-mile Fun Run for children will start at 7 p.m. at the park. Organizer Dave Thomson said the 5K participants follow a path through Clawson neighborhoods which attracts a lot of spectators every year.

"It’s a nice Sunday evening," Thomson said. "Everyone is out on their porch or their lawn to cheer them on."

So far, 150 people have registered for the Freedom Run and Thomson expects 300 by Sunday. The top 40 men and 40 women will receive medals and the top 3 men and women receive trophies.
