On a hot Wednesday morning, spectators from all over southeast Michigan showed up for the annual Fourth of July parade that marched from the Clawson Shopping Center to City Park.
For many families, it's an annual tradition to find a shady spot on 14 Mile, lay out a blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the parade entertainment.
"We come every year," said Clawson resident Sue Henriksen. "We've been here for 57 years and we never miss it. After the parade the family goes back to the house for a picnic."
The parade, which lasted for more than an hour, featured bands, local organizations, election candidates with campaign supporters, Mayor Penny Luebs, Miss Clawson pageant winners, fire trucks and more.
The rest of the holiday will include and a at dusk.
