Word on the Street: What's Clawson Talking About?

A roundup of various Facebook posts from Clawson pages.

Social media has evolved into a daily dose for most people. It's how we keep in touch with our friends, relatives and stay updated on what's going on around us. So today, we pulled together a list of postings from Facebook pages with a connection to Clawson. The updates were posted within the past few days. Here's the word on the street:

  • Downtown Clawson— Sadly it rained on the Cinema, but it was still a fantastic event...and a little rain didn't bother many die-hard movie fans that stayed right to the end. Our thanks to the volunteers that make Cinema in the Street possible.
  • Trinity Evangelical Lutheran ChurchJuly 8, 2012-Outdoor Service and Picnic (14 photos)
  • Leon & Lulu— Thanks to Slow Jams, Crossroads Creamery, Happy Belly Bakery, Kitchen With a Cause, Debra's Foods, Holy Cannolis, & Henry's Homemade Nut Butters for making Girls Night Out a huge success!

ANYBODY ELSE THINK THE PARADE WAS CRAP AND FULL OF POLITICAL BS? Very disappointing to have my family over to see that so called parade. Totally disappointed by the floats to impeach our president. The parade was no forum for that kind of BS! You guys missed the boat totally on this one!

If it is full of candidates... why can't it contain candidate criticism? If a bunch of candidates decide to use it as (free for them) marketing, then it is that kind of forum. PEOPLE, please remember popular speech doesn't need protecting. The 4th of July meaning is just lost on most and the first amendment seems to offend ignorant people.

@Justme Parade chairman Don Michels said the 'Impeach Obama' float snuck in the Fourth of July parade last week. He said the group was not on the list of parade participants and the Fourth of July committee does not allow floats that denounce groups or individuals. Aside from that rule, Michels said the committee welcomes pretty much anyone who wants to be in the parade. Politicians pay a fee to march in the parade, which helps fund the festivities. The committee usually starts planning for the parade floats a month in advance, Michels said.
