Letter From Your Founding Editor: Farewell, Clawson

Local editor Nicquel Terry reflects on her two years covering Clawson as she begins a new journey in her career.

I remember my first time driving through Clawson in August 2010. My former manager had recommended that I explore the area before I was hired as local editor of the Clawson Patch.

My first impression: a small, quaint town with a nice, walkable downtown area. But I knew there was more to Clawson than just that. I knew there were stories, people and traditions behind the slogan "small town with a big heart."

It didn't take me long to figure it out. After I , I started attending events and building relationships with residents and key officials. I learned about the issues that mattered most to residents and the hometown heroes that made Clawson a better place. I visited the schools and met the diverse groups of students and walked the downtown area to meet the owners of the local shops. The community welcomed me and the Clawson Patch with open arms.

Your news tips, engagement and feedback all helped the Clawson Patch flourish. You have all made my two years at Patch an exciting adventure. And I hope that in return, I've made your lives ridiculously easier.

Wednesday Aug. 29 will be my last official day at Patch. I will be moving to New Jersey for a new job opportunity and I'm very excited to start the next chapter of my life.

But just like you remember your first kiss or your first car, I will always remember my first professional job at Patch, and the Clawson community.

Thank you for all of your support.

All the best,

Nicquel Terry

I also notice that other patch sites out side of this area still look good (old). Can we just goRead More back since I don't hear ANY good feedback.
Cori Cann June 14, 2013 at 09:51 pm
Personally, I'm enjoying that I can blog and post announcements on here free of charge. When IRead More called months ago, the young man I spoke with told me I'd have to pay a small fortune to place a business ad.
Sharon Awbrey June 16, 2013 at 01:43 pm
I don't blog, so the fact that it is free is irrelevant to me, but great for those who do blog.Read More However, I have to agree with the majority. The new site is very unappealing visually and much less user-friendy. Are all the "Patch" news run by the same people? I would like our to have more individuality to it and be easier to use.
