Letter From Your Founding Editor: Farewell, Clawson

Local editor Nicquel Terry reflects on her two years covering Clawson as she begins a new journey in her career.

I remember my first time driving through Clawson in August 2010. My former manager had recommended that I explore the area before I was hired as local editor of the Clawson Patch.

My first impression: a small, quaint town with a nice, walkable downtown area. But I knew there was more to Clawson than just that. I knew there were stories, people and traditions behind the slogan "small town with a big heart."

It didn't take me long to figure it out. After I , I started attending events and building relationships with residents and key officials. I learned about the issues that mattered most to residents and the hometown heroes that made Clawson a better place. I visited the schools and met the diverse groups of students and walked the downtown area to meet the owners of the local shops. The community welcomed me and the Clawson Patch with open arms.
