Community Mourns Loss of Longtime Clawson Teacher, Resident

Alan William "Bill" Wentz, 78, of Clawson died August 20.

The Clawson community is mourning the loss of longtime teacher and resident Alan William "Bill" Wentz.

Wentz died Aug. 20, 2013 at the age of 78, according to his obituary by Gramer Funeral Home.

Wentz worked as a teacher for Clawson Public Schools for more than 45 years and continued tutoring students after his retirement, the obituary states. He also served as the VOICE of the Trojans football games and donated to the Athletic Boosters.

He is survived by his sister Marcia Roth and nephews Mark, Steve and Jeff, according to the funeral home.

A memorial service was held at Clawson High School on Monday and a "Bill Wentz Foundation" is currently being set up to benefit Clawson students.

Donations can be made out to Marcia Roth in care of the Bill Wentz Foundation and sent to the Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main Street, Clawson, Mich. 48017.
