Seaholm’s Spencer Eick won the Patch Athlete of the Week title for April 30-May 4 in one of the biggest weeks of voting yet.
The Maples baseball player picked up nearly 7,500 votes after a week of unscientific polling among Patch readers in Oakland County, or 41 percent of the total votes cast (18,158).
He edged out Stephanie Miller from , who also received strong support. The Bears’ soccer player had 40 percent of the votes (7,337).
Eick came out on top after strong week at the plate for Seaholm. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs in a 14-3 mercy rule win over Berkley last Friday.
A day earlier, he helped the Maples avoid getting swept in a doubleheader against Harrison with a home run and two RBIs. He went 2-for-4 and also had a stolen base in the 6-5 win.
Other athletes in the poll:
Stephanie Miller – (soccer): Stephanie Miller continues to score goals in bunches. Miller scored two goals in a 5-1 win over West Bloomfield on Thursday. Earlier in the week she gave the Bears an early 1-0 lead over North Farmington.

Melissa Palmer – (softball): Pitchers might want to avoid giving Athens shortstop Melissa Palmer anything to hit. She is just crushing the ball right now. Coming into the week, she was batting over .600 and leading the team in runs scored. She continued her hot play with a 4-for-8 performance in .
Ben Sacco – (baseball) – Ben Sacco, a fourth grader at Bemis Elementary in Troy, pitched a perfect – no hits, no walks and no errors – game on Thursday for the 10u Troy Bulldogs.
