Clawson City Council Votes to Renew Police Dispatch, Lockup Agreement

A one-year agreement worth over $172,500 to allow Clawson Police to use Troy Police dispatch and lockup services has been renewed for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

Clawson City Council unanimously voted on Tuesday to approve the contract which has been renewed for many years, according to Mayor Penny Leubs, adding that the city is paying a decreased rate in recent years due to economic conditions.

The 2011-12 agreement included a 10 percent cut in pay from the previous year, as well as an 8 percent decrease for the discontinuation of animal services which are now provided by Oakland County. The current rate is continued from the previous year's rate.

City officials said that the agreement allows police to save on overtime as well as the cost of technology.
