Clawson Police on Tuesday released information regarding a man accused of shooting at an officer with intent to kill.

Scott Allen Currie, 47, was arraigned Monday on attempted murder and other charges stemming from an incident on Saturday night in which police say he called police to his house and barricaded himself inside.

According to the news release, Currie phoned the Troy Police Dispatch Center at 9:50 p.m. to report himself as the suspect in a rape of a woman at his home. Police said that Currie lives on the 1400 block of North Custer and that the woman, who denied the report of sexual assault, is his longtime girlfriend.

As officers were dispatched to the scene, police said, the woman advised them that Currie was in possession of two handguns. As an officer approached, Currie came out to the front porch of his house, pointed a .44 caliber Magnum handgun at the officer, and shot, but missed the officer.

"After the first shot, the subject went back inside and a short time later, again opened the front door and fired a second shot and went back inside. The female was eventually able to leave the residence and make it to the officers safely," according to the release.

Police officers from Troy, Royal Oak, and the Oakland County Special Response Team (SRT) assisted as a two-hour standoff ensued; Currie did not answer his phone or requests from officers, police said. Currie eventually surrendered and was arrested without incident, police said.

Police said that Currie has a minor criminal history from 1985 and 1995 and that he told police that when he fired the gun, he was intoxicated from a combination of alcohol and Valium.

Currie faces seven charges, including assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearm charges, assaulting and resisting police, and possessing a firearm while under the influence of intoxicants, according to police. He is being held at Oakland County Jail, out on $750,000 cash bond, no 10 percent surety.

Currie was also banned from the city limits of Clawson if he does post bond.

Court officials at Troy District Court said that Currie's preliminary examination on Tuesday was rescheduled to next week.
