Hold the Sauce: Motorist at Taco Bell Drive-Through Allegedly Had Plenty

A Clawson man got car-hop service when he tried to order dinner from the drive-through lane at a local Taco Bell restaurant about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

It’s not a service the restaurant normally provides, but when Gregory Orr, 29, passed out in his car before he could give his order, employees had to go outside and try to rouse him, The Oakland Press reports.

It wasn’t easy.

“The worker knocked on the window of the car, but couldn’t wake him up,” Clawson Police Lt. Scott Sarvello told the newspaper.

So workers called 911.

Before police arrived at the restaurant, located at 131 S. Crook, the driver woke up.

“He got out of his car and told the worker he was drunk,” Sarvello said. “Then he got back in his car and drove off while our officers were on their way there.”

The restaurant workers gave police a description of Orr’s car and his license plate number. Authorities caught up with Orr near his home, when he backed up because he’d missed his driveway. Police said when they arrested Orr, he admitted he had been drinking earlier in the day. His blood alcohol content was .16, twice the legal limit.

Orr is now deep in hot sauce.

He was charged with third-offense drunken driving and possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine, which police found in his vehicle when they searched it.

He was arraigned in Troy 52-4 District Court Wednesday. Third-offense drunken driving is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The cocaine charge is also a felony, punishable by up to four years in prison.

Orr posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear for a pre-exam conference at 8:30 a.m. May 19 before Troy District Judge  William Bolle.
