Police Blotter: Driver Arrested After Hitting Moped

Clawson Police said the driver registered a 0.197 blood-alcohol level.

A Royal Oak man was arrested and cited on a drunken driving charge Wednesday evening after allegedly hitting a Madison Heights man who was driving his moped in Clawson.

A police report says the 60-year-old Royal Oak man was driving a 2006 Cadillac near the corner of Namaha Avenue and Tecumseh Street when he hit the moped driver.

When police arrived on the scene, the Cadillac driver had slurred speech and there was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from him, a police report says. Police say he failed a series of field sobriety tests and registered a 0.197 blood-alcohol level, more than twice the state's legal limit of 0.08.
