Police Issue MIP

A 19-year-old Troy woman was issued a Minor in Possession (MIP) citation at about 1:45 a.m. Monday after police say she registered a .086 blood alcohol content level.

Police said they discovered the woman sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked behind Nick's Country Oven in Clawson with a 28-year-old female in the passenger seat. An officer said that upon approaching the vehicle, he detected the smell of intoxicants coming from inside the car.

When he asked the 19-year-old if she had been drinking she replied "no." After the officer told her she was going to take a preliminary breath test, she admitted to drinking at a bar and at the 28-year-old's house.

The 28-year-old woman registered a .128 blood alcohol level and the officer decided that neither of them were OK to drive. The two women called a friend to pick them up and the vehicle was impounded.
