Dog owners have court date

A resident on the 600 block of Langley Boulevard was cited on Sunday for allowing a dog to run loose through the neighborhood. A neighbor told police that the homeowner's mixed shepherd dog ran after a golden retriever that was being walked by an elderly woman on Langley. A police report said the two dogs began to grapple, tangling the elderly woman in the leash which caused her to fall to the ground screaming. The neighbor said he did not know if the woman was injured because she quickly got up and walked away.

When police arrived at the dog owner's house, they spoke with a man and a woman. The residents said their dog is friendly, but police say this isn't the first time neighbors have complained about the dog causing problems. Officers issued a citation for letting the dog run loose. A court date is set for 8:30 a.m. July 6.
