Police Seek Group That Stole from Vehicles at Apartment Building

About a half-dozen people were spotted going through cars outside apartments on Rochester Road.

Clawson Police are seeking the group that reportedly stole several items out of vehicles parked outside a Clawson apartment building Tuesday night.

Police say a 28-year-old resident went outside the building, located on the 200 block of Rochester Road, and discovered someone going through the trunk of his car and another resident's pickup at about 10:50 p.m.

He then went inside to have his girlfriend call 911, returned to the parking lot and began to chase the half-dozen people who jumped in a red Lincoln Navigator and escaped the scene, a police report said. The resident said the suspects reversed out the parking lot so he couldn't get a license plate number and headed northbound on Rochester Road.

Stolen from two vehicles in the lot were a 10-inch subwoofer, a portable air compressor, cell phone charger, music tapes and CDs. The items were taken from unlocked vehicles, police said. No other residents reported items missing from their vehicles.

Police say people who commit larceny in groups usually aren't just doing it in one city. "They are probably making their way around the county," Clawson Lt. Scott Sarvello said.
