Smith Trial Recesses Until Nov. 15

Several Clawson and Troy police officers, a nurse and the forensic scientist who examined evidence in the stabbing of two Clawson women took the stand Friday in 6th Circuit Court in Pontiac.
Friday marked the third day of the trial against Frank Egan Smith, 53, charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the assault of a 46-year-old Clawson resident and her mother, 76.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Sara Pope-Starnes presented several pieces of physical evidence in court Friday, including DNA samples and the knife allegedly used in the stabbings.

Cooper and Defense Attorney Richard Taylor said they do not intend to call more witnesses and are expected to give their closing arguments when the trial resumes Nov. 15.
