Clawson City Council Remembers Sandy West
Longtime city volunteer leaves a legacy of support and friendship.
Clawson Mayor Penny Luebs announced the passing of longtime community volunteer Sandy West at the City Council meeting Tuesday night.
West was the wife of former Clawson City Clerk Clint West and is widely known in the city for her extensive volunteer efforts.
She was active on numerous boards and committees over the years including the Clawson Coalition, Clawson Lions and Rotary Club, the Clawson PTA, General Federation of Women’s Clubs (and Clawson Federation of Women's Clubs, Juniors), Blair Memorial Library Board, the and the 4th of July Committee.
West also volunteered for numerous PTA rummage sales, ran the concession stands at City Park for various organizations and was active at .
“We mourn her loss and extend to her family our sincere sympathy in this hour of their deep bereavement,” Mayor Luebs said.
Councilman Howie Arriess said she was a personal friend and recalled the many efforts by West to help various community activities.
“Sandy was a very active supporter of the Clawson Lion’s Club," he said. "She helped out tirelessly at our car shows and I consider her a personal friend."

License Renewals
City Council renewed coin operation and dance establishment permits for the various city establishments required to renew their licenses each year. The licenses require a permit, inspection and compliance with city ordinances in order to be renewed.

Bowl-a-thon
The second annual Clawson Police Bowl-a-Thon is scheduled from 9 p.m.-midnight on Saturday, March 5, at Thunderbird Lanes in Troy.

New Signs
The Clawson Department of Public Works will begin installing new "Welcome to Clawson" signs along the major streets in the city. The new signs were designed by the DPW with recommendations from city council members. The signs will be paid for out of the DPW budget.
