Election Day 2011: Clawson Voters Guide

Find all the information you need before you cast your vote.

Election Day is Tuesday and that means one thing for Clawson residents: prepare to participate in democracy.

There are two open four-year term seats on City Council: Howie Airriess' first term on council is ending and councilman Samuel Moore is not running for re-election.

The candidates are , , and . Shattuck is a write-in candidate because he filed after the Aug. 16 deadline. Electors will have to write Shattuck's name in a designated area if they choose to vote for him.

is running unopposed for the open school board seat in the Nov. 8 election. Board secretary Cyndi Peltonen's term ends Dec. 31 and she is not running for re-election.

Mayor Penny Luebs is running unopposed for a third two-year term.

Voting

Here is a list of things voters should know before casting their vote today:

  • All precincts are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Voters must bring a photo ID to the polls.
  • All absentee ballots must be submitted to the city clerk by 8 p.m. Tuesday. There is also a drop box outside City Hall.
  • Campaigners have to stand 100 feet or more away from polling locations. Those wearing campaign paraphernelia will not be allowed inside the polling site.
