5 Things That Happened at the Clawson School Board Meeting

Capital projects, Common Core, and staff hirings were all on the agenda Monday night.

Here's a quick hit-style recap of what happened at the Clawson School Board meeting Monday night.

1.
The board unanimously approved a resolution allowing administrators to request qualification from the state in order to pay for various capital improvement projects throughout district buildings. The Superintendent has been asked to submit a bond ballot proposition, which, as approved by the state, will be presented to the board at a future meeting with hopes of eventually going before voters.

2. The board unanimously approved a resolution in support of the Common Core State Standards towards the state legislature to support and fund their continued expansion in Clawson schools. Clawson has already begun to implement the new standards, according to the resolution, and abandoning them now would lead to confusion from teachers and students.

3. The board unanimously approved the hiring of Whitney Cuson as a Clawson High School student psychologist.

4. The board unanimously accepted the resignations of teachers Ryan Brinks, Abigail Woodard, and Jennifer DeKruif.

5. The board discussed the possibility of putting future agendas and agenda packets on BoardBook, an online resource dedicated to providing paperless meetings.
