Essay Contest for high school students age 15-18
This contest (essay) is designed to give students ages 15-18 an opportunity to use your knowlege & gain experience to voice your views on what you value in our community and how it can be improved. The essay topic is "If you were an elected official (mayor/councilmember) how would you improve the quality of life in your community?" The deadline for submission is Oct 19; Essays must not exceed 500 words, an official entry form must be filled out & submitted with essay. The winner will receive an expense paid trip to the National League of Cities conference in Boston Mass. Nov 27-Dec 1, 2012. You will have the opportunity to participate in youth delegate workshops & network with public officials from around the country. The scholarship is funded by the Michigan Municiapl League.
