Kenwood Raises More Than $2,000 for Sarvello Family

Proceeds will help the family of Alexis Sarvello with medical costs.

families raised $2,406 at a walk-a-thon Friday for a student who is recovering from multiple surgeries.

The students walked two laps in honor of 10-year-old Alexis Sarvello.

Alexis, also known as Lulu, was diagnosed with a brain tumor on May 2 and is now in Children's Hospital of Michigan. All proceeds will go directly to the Sarvello family to aid with medical expenses, Kenwood PTA member Shannon Gougeon said.

Gougeon said during the walk Friday, students chanted "love for Lulu, let's go."

"It was a very emotional morning for us," Gougeon said in an email to the Clawson Patch.

Kenwood will continue collecting donations for the Sarvello family through Friday.
