In his nomination, Principal John Dickinson said, “Mrs. Nagy has incomparable amounts of energy, with which she enlivens and engages her students. She teaches responsibility through accountability, moves about the room with a keen eye for ‘dreamers’ and involves everyone through class discussions and creativity. She is a positive presence for students, modeling involvement and encouraging participation. She upholds her promises and rewards exceptional work and accountability.”

In describing Mrs. Nagy, colleague Kimberly Olson said, “She encourages the students of Clawson Middle School, reprimands them when necessary, holds them accountable for attaining their personal best, backs them when they need a cheerleader, and high-fives them when they need a ‘buddy’. Mrs. Nagy is an outstanding example of what today’s teachers outwardly encompass, and without a doubt, she is already molding the minds of the teachers of tomorrow.”

Parent Kristin Guerro said “Mrs. Nagy is the kind of person that I want influencing my kids on a daily basis. Her compassion, kindness, sense of humor, creativity and love of teaching show in what she passes on to her students every day.” And student Allison Guerro commended Mrs. Nagy for “treating us as if we are capable of doing great things and it makes us try harder to show her that we are”.

The Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year Program is sponsored by Oakland Schools and the Oakland Schools Education Foundation.
