Clawson Athletes Prep for Spring Sports

A summary of season kickoff dates for high school baseball, soccer, track teams and more.

Athletes at are warming up and sharpening their skills for the spring sports season. Here's a look at what's to come:

Girls Soccer

The varsity girls soccer team has taken advantage of some of the recent warmer days to practice outside on the field. The team will open its season on the road taking on Warren Fitzgerald High School on March 30 at 7 p.m. Its first home game will be April 11 against Lake Shore High School at the City Park field at 7 p.m.

Boys Baseball

The boys baseball team has been practicing inside and outside to prepare for the season opening double-header at 4 p.m. April 4 against Summit Academy at Clawson City Park. Varsity Coach Ralph Haney’s team is also selling T-shirts – one in gray and one in blue – to raise funds for equipment for the team this season. Boys Golf

The boys golf team hits the tees on April 19 when it takes on Warren Woods Tower High School at 2:45 p.m. at the Maple Lane Golf Club. The team has 14 events on the schedule before district play begins in June. Brett Hanssen coaches the team.

Girls Tennis

Girls tennis hosts Utica High School at Clawson City Park at 4 p.m. March 28. The team has 14 contests scheduled before divisional play in May. Ann Marie Jasieniecki is the head coach for the team.

Boys and Girls Track

Track, under the direction of Trevor Zablocki (boys) and Amy Reaume (girls), begins its season on the road against Center Line High School in a dual meet at 4:30 p.m. April 12. The teams have nine events on the schedule before regionals begin May 20.

Girls Softball

Girls softball throws out its first pitch on April 11, taking on Renaissance High School of Detroit at 4:30 p.m. The team has 21 games on tap before districts begin on May 31. Ray McMann is head coach of the varsity team.
