Clawson High School varsity pitchers David Harlukowicz and Jake Smith combined to hold East Detroit to one run last week in a win which propels the Trojans to play for the division title on Monday.
Harlukowicz threw for five strikeouts over five innings and Smith finished the final two innings in the 4-1 win over the Shamrocks, which moves Clawson to a 7-1 record on the year.
Craig Bynum broke the game open with a two-run double, finishing 2-for-3 from the plate, as did Billy Feldbush.
Clawson will play at City Park on Monday against Roseville for the for the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division title. Coach Ralph Haney said that the game starts at 4:30 p.m.
The Trojans traveled to East Detroit last Monday and won, 14-0, to push their record to 6-1. Among the highlights of that game:
- Smith threw a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit and throwing five strikeouts en route to a 6-0 pitching record. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- Matt Pike went 2-for-3 with two walks.
- Bynum and Feldbush each went 3-for-4.
