The Wolverines (6-0) are going into this game undefeated but have fallen to the Spartans (4-1) in the past two seasons: 26-20 in 2009 and 34-17 in 2010. Both years, the Wolverines entered the game with undeafeated records. The Spartans also defeated the Wolverines in 2008. An article in Thursday's Detroit Free Press discusses this trend and why alumni believe this year's results will be different.

It will be a significant game for the senior players at U-M, who have yet to experience a win against the Spartans.

The players are looking to gain a 7-0 record after Saturday's game and break the 0-3 losing streak against the Spartans, an article in The Detroit News said.

"That's not Michigan," junior defensive end Craig Roh said in another Detroit News story. "It's obviously not acceptable."

Meanwhile, the Spartans are anticipating the big home game Saturday with high hopes of making it a four-win record againt the Wolverines, The Detroit News reported.

Clawson Patch Facebook fans are divided, leaving a mix of comments between "Michigan!" and "Go Green!"

Sports guru and Patch reporter Mark Stowers said he believes it will be a close game, but he predicts a 27-21 win for the Spartans.

"As a rivalry game, you've got to give a nod to the home team," Stowers said. "Michigan has run over opponents, and their defense has stepped up this season, but they haven't faced a team as good as Michigan State. We'll see how good Michigan really is after this game."
