Sign up now for the first annual event.

Clawsonites and beyond: gear up!

This October 13, get ready to lace up your sneakers and take a three-mile dash through the streets of Clawson, or clock a mile around City Park during the city's first ever TNT 5K and One Mile Fun Run event.

Organized by area teens, the event will help support the autism programs at Clawson and Royal Oak High Schools.

Elizabeth Kurkowski, a senior at ROHS who came up with the run's theme, has already gained a number of donations from local businesses and community members which will go toward the Autism Spectrum Disorder, Link and Bridges programs. In these groups, students act as peer mentors and help bring together those who have special needs and learning disabilities. Additional money raised will help student volunteers in developing fun lessons and activities for those with autism.

Registration is just $5 for the One Mile Fun Run and $10 for kids/$20 for adults for the TNT 5K. But hurry, sign up before October 6 to get these early bird rates plus a T-shirt! Stop by the Hunter Community Center or reserve your spot online.
