UPDATED: Weather Forces Changes to Clawson Sports Schedule

More rain in the forecast could push more games back on schedule.

April 25— Last Wednesday wasn’t kind to the spring sports schedule either.

There wasn’t rain or snow, but the conditions were bad enough (low temperatures, wet fields) to force many schools in the area to cancel games and Clawson was no different.

Both varsity games scheduled – the baseball game against Warren Fitzgerald and the girls tennis meet against Marine City – were cancelled. The girls tennis match was rescheduled to Friday, April 29.

Last week’s schedule was light to begin with because schools were close on Friday and no games were scheduled for the holiday weekend.

The forecast calls for some warmer temperatures this week, but rain could still be a problem. On Wednesday, every team has a game scheduled except the track team. The baseball team is the busiest of the Trojans teams with four games during the week.

April 20— Cancellations and postponements were the results of all the Clawson spring games scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. The snow on Monday and rain on Tuesday led to the full schedule on both days to be wiped out. The games postponed with firm makeup dates include are:

* April 18: Clawson Girls Varsity Soccer @ St. Clair MOVED to May 6
* April 18: Clawson Girls Varsity Tennis @ Warren Fitzgerald MOVED to May 3
* April 19: Clawson Varsity Track @ Lincoln MOVED to April 21

The rest of the games on the schedule have been canceled. That includes the varsity
baseball games scheduled for Monday (at South Lake) and Tuesday (home against
Roseville), Tuesday’s varsity softball game against East Detroit and Tuesday’s season
opening meet for the golf team (at Warren Woods).

Bad weather won’t stop us from giving you some results. We have update results from last week for the Trojans girls varsity tennis team. The girls had three games last week, all with different results.

The Trojans (4-1-1; 3-0 Macomb Conference) started off the week on Tuesday with a 4-4 tie against Frankel. The schools each had two wins a piece in singles and doubles. The highlights included Jenna Ziegler’s two set (6-1, 6-0) win over Jordyn Desner and Danielle Biskner and Elizabeth Thorton’s two set win (6-0, 6-4) win over Samantha Zwick and Eruly Goodman.

On Thursday, the Trojans extended its conference record to 3-0 with a 5-3 win over
Lakeview. Clawson won three of the four singles matches to help them edge out a close win over their conference rival.

The Trojans first loss of the season came on Friday in a 6-2 loss to Anchor Bay. Anchor Bay won all four doubles matches over Clawson. The only Trojans to pick up wins were seniors Olivia Stenzel and Laura Clissold in singles competition.
