Volleyball

The Clawson varsity volleyball team won its only game during the week. on Thursday night at home. It was a Macomb Area Conference Silver division game and put the team over .500 (3-2) on the season.

“We’re doing better than I expected,” senior Alli Costine said. “This was a rebuilding year, and I didn’t want to have too high of expectations, but we’ve been doing pretty good.”

Costine had a great all-around performance against the Cavaliers continuing her solid senior season. She was coming off being named part of the all-tournament team at the 33rd Annual Daily Tribune Tournament the previous weekend.

Costine is trying to help fill a big leadership role on the squad. She’s a three-year starter and one of the most experienced players on the team.

“It’s been different,” Costine said. “I’ve been used to looking up to somebody, I have to be the person to look up to. We just try to talking to them (the younger players) and pick them up.”
