Images: Weekend Events Around Town

Clawson was in the spirit of giving this weekend with a fish fry for autism, a breast cancer fundraiser, and a Junior Optimist Club fundraiser

There were a variety of charitable activities for people to participate in this weekend in Clawson. The weekend started with a Friday night Fish Fry at the to benefit the Autism Society of America - Oakland Chapter. The all-you-can-eat dinner included fried and baked fish, crab cakes, vegetables, potatoes and fries, and soft drinks.

Also Friday was the event at which raised money to support the 2011 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago. More than two dozen people attended the event which included chocolate treats and beverages, a raffle with fun gifts, wine, and hair salon gift certificates from Changez Salon in Royal Oak.

The Junior Optimist Club held a day-long scrapbooking event Saturday at in Clawson. The event was an "all-you-can-scrapbook" day where for $25, scrapbook fans could gather and work on their projects, and help out a good cause. In addition to raising funds to support the Junior Optimists, some of the club members made cards and gifts at the store for children at Beaumont Hospital.
