Paul Lukas: Embracing His Neighboring Community

Troy resident Paul Lukas volunteers in Clawson whenever his help is needed.

Although Paul Lukas is a resident of Troy, he dedicates a lot of his time to volunteering in the neighboring community of Clawson.

Lukas, 45, embraces Clawson as if it were his own community by helping out with many projects around town including , the Fourth of July celebration, , working at the Clawson Historical Museum and more. Lukas began volunteering in Clawson three years ago with the Fourth of July celebration Firecracker Mile Race and crowd control. Since then, he has continued to serve the Clawson community.

“He perseveres in asking what he can do around Clawson, what events are going on and I really appreciate the fact that he’s willing and able to volunteer,” Mayor Penny Luebs said of Lukas.

Clare Mann, President of Friends of the Library, agreed. “He is always willing to help," she said.

His position for Relay for Life mostly involves promoting the walk by handing out and posting fliers. During Relay for Life last year, Lukas showed his dedication by walking 100 laps around the Clawson City Park.

“A lot of the events are exciting,” Lukas said. “And I just like giving to the community without expecting a pay check in return.”

Among other events he has participated in are the Fall Festival, the Trick or Treat Trail, Christmas Caroling in Clawson and the Haunted House. When he’s not working or volunteering, Lukas enjoys going out to eat, watching movies, TV, walking, jogging and biking. Most of his exercise outdoors takes place in Clawson.

Clawson Patch wants to feature more great volunteers in the community. We could use your help in searching for those philanthropic folk. We’re not looking for Hercules or Superman; we’re more interested in hometown heroes. If you have a volunteer in mind, email Local Editor Nicquel Terry at nicquel.terry@patch.com.
