At Monday's Royal Oak City Commission meeting, 14-year-old Arthur Davis was praised for his quick thinking and mature demeanor.

A 14-year old Clawson High School student was honored for his acts of courage at Royal Oak City Hall on Monday. Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O’Donohue and Royal Oak Fire Chief Chuck Thomas awarded Arthur Davis, 14, with the Royal Oak Police Department Citizen Award.  Davis was at home babysitting his 1-year-old sister when he smelled smoke coming from the basement. After being unable to reach his mother, he called 9-1-1 and was able to lead his sister and two dogs to safety outside the home. "Arthur took charge of the situation," said O'Donohue, praising the teen for focusing on saving his sister and family pets. Davis' quick thinking and mature demeanor were deserving of recognition, O'Donohue said.
