5 Things to Know This Week: Special City Council Meeting, Parents' Seminar at Hunter, Baby and Me Yoga

Here's the scoop on what's happening in Clawson for the week of Dec. 31.

1. Clawson City Hall will be closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The City Council meeting will take place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., with an informal 'Coffee with the Council' session beforehand at 7 p.m. 2. Check out the Motor City Meatball Madness New Year's Eve party Monday at 9 p.m. A family-friendly event, there will be a meatball eating contest, gourmet food, ice skating, live entertainment and more. 5 Things to Know This Week: Holiday Book Drive, City Offices Closed, Free Yoga Class

Here's the scoop on what's happening in Clawson for the week of Dec. 24.

1. Clawson City Hall will be closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 28. The Tuesday evening City Planning Commission meeting has also been cancelled. 2. Monday is the last day to see Santa Clause this year! Bring your kids to get their photos taken at Somerset from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Oakland Mall from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  3. Are you looking for any last-minute gifts? Stop by Barnes & Noble in Royal Oak to purchase books, games and more. While you're there, pick up something extra to help children in need this Christmas and donate it to the store's Holiday Book Drive. 5 Things to Know This Week: Lunch with Santa, Little Shop of Horrors Musical, Clawson Youth Assistance Program

Here's the scoop on what's happening in Clawson for the week of Dec. 3.

1. Clawson's annual tree lighting ceremony is set to take place Monday at 6:30 p.m. outside of Blair Memorial Library. Hot chocolate will be served at Clawson Middle School afterward. 2. Clawson Youth Assistance will host the "Talk Early and Talk Often" workshop on Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Clawson Middle School. The program will provide parents with tools for discussing sexuality with their children. Warmer weather is in the forecast as fall activities start to pop up.

1. Warmer weather expected: According to the National Weather Service, we'll enjoy mostly sunny skies and temperatures rising to the high 60s and low 70s this week. 2. Blood drive: An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday in the community room of City Hall. Stop by and give blood. To schedule an appointment, call 248-589-0334.  3. Stop-Chop-n-Roll Chili Competition: Leon & Lulu is hosting a firefighter chili competition from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
