Vote for Clawson Artist in Online Competition

Everyone can visit MIGreatArtist.com and vote for their favorites among more than 120 entries by artists around the region.

A Clawson artist is in the running for the MI Great Artist competition that is now open to voters online.  Keven Carter is among 122 other artists who live, work, or go to school in the Economic Growth Alliance (EGA) region and submitted their creative work to the contest. You can vote for Carter by visiting MIGreatArtist.com. "Detroit based Artisan working in many mediums," Carter's biography says. "Inspired by all things American Automotive and Detroit based. I’m a graduate of The Center for Creative Studies (now College of Creative Studies, CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. My focus is to display my visual arts of what has inspired me as a native Detroiter." High School Students Brighten Downtown Clawson with Mural

Student artist says the painting on the side of Tease adds the touch of color that the community needs.

Local high school students have brightened up the downtown area, painting a nature-themed mural on the exterior wall of Tease Salon. The mural is one of the first steps in the Downtown Development Authority's effort to bring more art to Clawson. Clawson High School junior Harley Brown created the original design and worked with students Eric Stephenson, Haley Ammons and art teacher Megan Homanick to paint it on Sunday and Monday. The DDA selected Brown's concept drawing from a pool of entries from other students. "It adds a nice touch of greenery," DDA Director Joan Horton said of the painting, which includes a giant tree with a blue sky.  Brown said she wanted her to drawing to brighten up the downtown area and reflect the scenery of …
