Whiz Kids: Schalm Elementary Robotics Team Earns Acclaim

The 12-member team won first and second place in the People's Choice category at the auto show competition in January.

  Name: Robotics team — Matt Harvill, Eddie Stuart, Avery Cole, Timmy Prusinowski, Riley Thorne, Celena Saylor, Raiden Heintz, Hannah Jablonski, Griffin Frendo, Jackson Frendo, Logan Bolger and Adam Holder School: Schalm Elementary School Accomplishment: The 12-member Robotics Team formed in December and participated in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The team won first and second place in the People's Choice category for robotic floats it built. The students built two floats — one of the Renaissance Center and the other of Comerica Park. Did you make it to the auto show this year? If you share a photo by 6 p.m. today, you'll have a chance to win a Patch T-shirt or hat.

You've been to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit; now it's time to dream. Whether it's a Mercedes or a Ford, chances are you had a favorite car (we wonder if this Bentley is a favorite of chef Wolfgang Puck?) And more than likely, you have a photo of yourself in front of that car to prove it. Patch wants to see your photos from the auto show, and we'll reward you for it. Upload your photos here all week long; after the show closes next Sunday night, we'll choose 20 photo contributors at random to receive a Patch T-shirt or Patch hat.  Here are the details:

We want to know who from Clawson will participate in the big event.

The crown jewel in Detroit's calendar, the North American International Auto Show, kicks off next week and the Clawson Patch wants to hear from Clawson residents who will be participating. Perhaps you helped design one of the vehicles? Maybe you know a student whose artwork will be part of the show like that of these high schoolers from Troy? The Clawson Lions Club's 13th Annual "Down on Main Street" Car Show filled both sides of South Main Street with classic cars and happy people enjoying a hot summer day.
