Clawson Baseball Team Breaks in New Field with a Big Win

The Trojans beat Summit High this weekend to win a four-team tournament, hosted at Clawson for the first time this season.

The Clawson High School baseball program is moving forward, said varsity coach Ralph Haney following the Trojans' win in its first tournament on its new field. Trojan pitcher Billy Feldbush threw four scoreless innings of relief in the four-team tournament finals, en route to an 8-3 win over Summit High on a gorgeous Saturday at Clawson City Park. The tournament, which also featured South Lake High and Lutheran High Northwestern, was the first to be hosted at the recently-renovated field. The plan for three parties, including Haney, to renovate the field came partially in response to feedback from opponents who referred to it as one of the worst in the area, Haney said in April. Storms Keep Clawson Baseball Team off of New Field

Trojans varsity head coach Ralph Haney continues to lead fundraising efforts in a three-part plan to update the City Park infield.

Despite the falling rain and flashing lightning that caused postponements this week, Clawson High School varsity baseball coach Ralph Haney says he's excited for the prospects of the Trojans team this season. On Monday, in its first and, to date, only completed game of the season, Clawson topped Sterling Heights High, 15-1. However, the rain itself also has Haney excited, since it's watering the new grass infield that the Trojans are playing on, following a plan to refurbish the diamond at City Park. (Check out the full story from Aug. 2012 on Clawson Patch here.) Clawson is scheduled to host doubleheaders on Friday versus Pontiac Academy (4:30 p.m.; 6:30 p.m.) and on Saturday against Parkway Christian (5 p.m.; 7 p.m.). Among the …

Little Shop of Horrors Musical to Make Debut on Clawson High School Stage Thursday

Performances will run Dec. 6-8 on the high school auditorium stage.

It's the moment 18 students have been waiting for. For the past two months, these students, grades 6-12, have practiced their hearts out, three hours each day to be exact - nailing their lines, dressing the part and molding into their characters. Their hard work will all pay off Thursday night as the winter musical Little Shop of Horrors premieres on the Clawson High School stage. "We have athletes, honor students, young aspiring musicians and actors, and a few professional musicians in the pit orchestra," said Thomas Pavlovich, Vocal Musical Director for Clawson Public Schools.  Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of a man named Seymour, who, down on his luck, wants nothing more than to impress the girl of his dreams.
