The 2012 Division I Football Bowl Subdivision bowl game schedule has been under way since Dec. 15, when Arizona edged Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl and Utah State routed Toledo in the Potato Bowl. A cornucopia of games remain on tap through the Jan. 7 National Championship between Notre Dame and Alabama. The Michigan Wolverines capped their college football season with a sweet, 23-20 victory over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Tuesday night. With the victory, U-M finished the 2011-12 campaign with an 11-2 record. This year’s Wolverines became the fifth team in school history to record an 11-win season. Michael Rosenberg of the Detroit Free Press said that this was a special U-M team. Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News said the Sugar Bowl triumph was a fitting end to the Wolverines’ season, and Kyle Meinke of annarbor.com wrote that the players got a kick out of the Sugar Bowl.
