Michigan Green Communities Challenge Awards Clawson's Efforts for Environmental Leadership

The city received a special honor at a recent conference in Lansing.

In the past few years, Clawson has made substantial efforts to be environmentally-conscious, and those efforts haven't gone unnoticed. The city was recently recognized for its hard work, as part of the Michigan Green Communities Challenge, at a conference in Lansing. Local governments were awarded seals of achievement—Gold, Silver, Bronze or Member—that reflected the community's leadership in natural resource conservation, green economic development, energy efficiency and more. Clawson achieved Member status for its exemplary role in aiding in conservation and utilization of the environment. The city participates in the Rochester Road Access Management Plan, a collective initiative by Oakland County communities situated nearby. The plan …

My opinion, if what little that has been done here generates an award. What would happen if they really tried to be Green. E.G. 2 yr's ago DDA put in old tech. Street lights, (all they did is get the poles all the same [118] ) after constant emails, they decided to do an energy audit, they found out the Street lights are very old tech. so is the service contract. instead of making the DDA put in …   more ›
