Weekend Planner: Schalm Carnival, Tables of Treasure and More

A roundup of weekend happenings in Clawson and surrounding areas.

Schalm Elementary School will host its 7th annual carnival and auction from 4-8 p.m. Friday. There will be T-ball, face painting, mechanical surf board/bull, cake walk, Wii games, mini-hoops, a magician, 50/50 raffle and many other fun activities. Food will also be available in the cafeteria from 4-7:30 p.m. The Clawson Senior Center is hosting a garage and craft sale from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 14. There will be more than 50 tables of items for sale plus a lunch counter and a bake sale. Admission is free. The Friends of the Library book sale kicks off Saturday at Blair Memorial Library. The sale will run through April 19. There wil be a variety of books, magazines, CDs and more at prices ranging from 25 cents up to $2. The sale will run …

Weekend Planner: Fundraiser at Leon & Lulu, Wunderground Anniversary and More

Leon & Lulu will host a fundraiser for the Michigan AIDS Coalition on Friday at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $35 in advance or $45 at the door. Food and drink are included in your ticket purchase. Ten percent of all Leon & Lulu sales will benefit the Michigan AIDS Coalition. The GFWC will host a Bunny Brunch at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hunter Community Center. You can purchase tickets for $5 at Hunter. Tickets are advance sale only. Brunch includes dyed eggs, sweet rolls, sausage, juice and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Wunderground Magic Shop will celebrate its 41st anniversary on Sunday, April Fools Day. Weekend Planner: Fish Fry, Trojan Hoops, Ice Skating and More

Knights of Columbus will host a Fish Fry from 4:30-7:30 p.m Friday. The menu includes baked and fried fish, crab cakes, rolls, coleslaw, vegetables, macaroni and cheese, French fries and baked potatoes. Desserts and drinks are also included. The price is $8 for adults, $4.50 for children 12 and younger and $7.50 for seniors. The Clawson varsity boys basketball team will take on Lake Shore High School at 7 p.m. Friday at home. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students. A $50 family pass also is available, which allows the entire family to get into 10 games of their choice. John Lindell Ice Arena (1403 Lexington Blvd.) in Royal Oak hosts open skating with a live DJ on Fridays from 8:15–10:05 p.m. Admission is $10. Skate rental is $4. …

Test your singing skills Friday and Saturday nights at Royal Kubo with some of the best karaoke in town. The fun begins at 8 p.m., and there is no cover charge. Wunderground Magic Shop will host a Children's Magic Class 10-11 a.m. Saturday for children ages 7-13. The class is taught by an accomplished magician. You can purchase six classes for $100 and use them any time within six months. Thunderbird Lanes, 400 W. Maple Rd. in Troy, hosts a Family Fun Night 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturdays. There will be colored pin bowling for prizes and other fun games along the way. Music is toned down and "mom approved." The cost is $25 per lane or $7 per person, $1 shoe rental.
