New Mojave Cantina Hiring Servers, Opens This Weekend in Clawson

The menu will feature made from scratch food, including burritos, chicken a la Mexicana, chimichangas and carne asada.

The wait is over. Mojave Cantina officially opens this weekend. Located at 48 West 14 Mile next to Pizza Hut, the Tex-Mex restaurant is set to open Saturday or Sunday. On Wednesday, owner and manager Phil Tsapatoris was at the eatery taking applications for experienced servers. He, and partner Phil Lampos, are very eager to hire friendly faces, he said. Interested candidates can download and print the employment application, or stop by the restaurant through Friday. Someone will be there from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to review your completed application. “We’re going to have something for everyone—even kids,” said Lampos. “We’re very family friendly. New Mexican Restaurant Plans to Open in Downtown Clawson in 2013

A February grand opening is planned for the new Mojave Cantina in Clawson.

Clawson has become a "foodie's dream." Within a short walk you can find Japanese Sushi, Vietnamese delicacies, Italian favorites, Greek specialties, microbrewery beer and soon—homemade Mexican dishes. Mojave Cantina, currently in construction at at 48 West 14 Mile next to Pizza Hut, has been in the works since May with a proposed opening this past October. But there was more work than initially thought when owner and general contractor Phil Tsapatoris began the project. He virtually had to strip the building back to its foundation. "It's moving along slowly, but surely," he said. "There were a lot of updates that this building needed. There were layer upon layer of people not correcting the issues but had just covered them up.
