Happy Monday: What You Should Know This Week

We're looping you in on all the happenings in Clawson this week.

Meetings The Clawson City Planning Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. Elections On Tuesday, Clawson voters will head to the polls for the presidential primary election and the nonpartisan local election, in which the city is asking for a 4.2-mill tax increase. There are precincts at Kenwood School, City Hall, Hunter Community Center, Clawson High School, Baker Administration Building and Schalm School. If you're not sure where you are assigned to vote, check your voter identification card or check the precinct map on the city's website. City Council Praises Weekend Festivities, Postpones Rezoning Issue

The Clawson City Council held its regular meeting on the heels of July Fourth events.

With the city's Fourth of July activities barely behind them, the Clawson City Council met Tuesday evening. Here's a rundown of what councilmembers discussed: Calling the July Fourth holiday the city's biggest event of the year, councilmembers praised the contributions of all those who helped make the various activities a success, including the Department of Public Works, the Clawson Police, and the fireworks committee. A new hamster-ball carnival ride made a big splash with the crowds, as did a free rock-climbing exhibit, councilmembers said. “I don’t know any word to describe the fireworks except that they were magical, marvelous,” said Mayor Penny Luebs.
