A downtown event spiced things up for the Clawson community Saturday when about 500 people showed up for Fire & Spice and Everything Nice in downtown Clawson. Downtown Development Authority director Joan Horton said she was pleased with the event's success. "The turnout is beyond what we expected," she said. Inside a small tent next to Clawson Shoe Repair, a chili cook-off took place with participants from the Clawson business community and local organizations. Downtown Clawson will heat up this Saturday with a chili cook-off, marshmallow drop, bonfire and more during Fire & Spice and Everything Nice. The event, set for noon-4 p.m., is a celebration of Clawson's Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 13-19), with proceeds benefiting several local organizations.
