Southeast Oakland County Senior Salute Will Be Held Oct. 1

The fifth annual event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, where participants will have the opportunity win Meijer gifts cards, get flu shots, enjoy a free lunch and more.

Clawson High School Names Athletes of the Year

Seniors Emily Banules and Kevin Cunningham selected for the prestigious award.

The Clawson High School Athletic Department has named seniors Emily Banules and Kevin Cunningham the 2010-11 Robert Herm Athletes of the Year. In addition to their athletic prowess, each athlete excels in the classroom as Cunningham is this year's salutatorian and Banules was in the Top 10 of the senior class. Banules strives for success Banules follows in the footsteps of her brother, Anthony Banules, who won the award in 2009. Banules said she was excited. "I was just happy because I knew I had worked hard for it," she said. Banules enjoyed volleyball most in her high school career as she was No. 1 in the region. Her best sport of all time may be soccer where she was named to the All State team. She also competed on the swim team where …

Clawson High School Graduates Begin New Journey

One hundred and thirty-seven graduates crossed the stage in the Clawson High School gymnasium on Sunday.

There were tears of joy, cheers, laughter and an echoing of applause Sunday in the Clawson High School gymnasium as 137 graduates crossed the stage and entered a new chapter in their lives. Parents and supporters packed the sweltering gym on an afternoon when temperatures outside reached the mid-80s. But it was clear that the heat would not stop the crowd from yelling or the graduates from smiling ear to ear. They had come too far. Graduates reflected on their grade-school days as they listened to Alyssa Forsyth's senior-memories speech and received inspiring words from their fellow classmates and school faculty during the ceremony. “We must welcome the future with open arms and realize that we have only created a small chapter of our …

Faculty, Community Honors Seniors for School Achievements

Clawson High School seniors earned a total of $1 million in scholarships this year.

Clawson High School 's most accomplished students were honored Monday at Senior Honors Night as the school, parents and staff recognized four years of hard work for students who will soon end their high school years. Senior Allison Hazel was recognized for seven scholarships; valedictorian, Nichole Pedro, and co-salutatorians, Kevin Cunningham and Michael Francis were announced; and several others were awarded various honors. Representatives from several community and school organizations announced the winners of scholarships. Principal Ryan Sines said scholarships for the Class of 2011 totaled more than $1 million. Clawson High School to Honor Seniors Tonight

Parents, school faculty, students and the community will gather tonight for Senior Honors Night.

Tonight, Clawson High School will present several awards to the senior class of 2011 at Senior Honors Night. The special program, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium, will include presentations of community scholarships, department awards, introduction of the class valedictorian and salutatorian and parents will put the senior medallion on their student. The last day of school for seniors is Thursday and graduation is at 2 p.m. Sunday June 5 in the high school gymnasium.
