U.S. Rep. Kerry Bentivolio Introduces First Bill

Bill would offer grace period for small businesses to correct violations of regulations.

Congressman Kerry Bentivolio (MI-11) last week introduced his first bill, The Protect Small Business Jobs Act (H.R. 746), according to a news release from Bentivolio's office. This legislation offers small business owners a six-month grace period to correct a violation of federal regulations as long as the violation does not pose an imminent threat to life. "Small businesses are America's job creators," Bentivolio said in the news release, "and the massive regulatory state grows so quickly that they often have a tough time keeping up. This comes at the expense of jobs and economic growth. Downtown Shops Report Steady Traffic on Small Business Saturday

Most small businesses in Clawson have their own unique busy days during the holiday weekend.

Downtown Clawson businesses celebrated the 'shop local' push on Saturday with steady customer traffic throughout the day. Leon & Lulu owner Mary Liz Curtin said Small Business Saturday brought plenty of shoppers to the store, however it wasn't much busier than Black Friday.  "(Black Friday) is a big shopping day, we'll have a good day (Saturday) but last year Black Friday was bigger," Curtin said.
