Clawson Soccer Outlasts Macomb Lutheran North In Shootout Win

The Trojans boys soccer team advances to district finals for a game against Detroit Country Day on Friday.

Two days, two overtimes and two shootouts. That’s how long Clawson and Macomb Lutheran North needed to settle the schools’ second round district playoff game. In the end, it was the Trojans who pulled out a 3-2 win in a second shootout on Thursday at home.  The game was suspended on Wednesday due to poor field conditions. Play picked up on Thursday with 15:21 remaining in the first half and Clawson up 1-0. Both teams needed the remainder of the first half to get back into the flow of the game. Tyler Lehman scored his second goal of the game for the Trojans about 10 minutes into the second half to give his team a 2-0 lead. Facing elimination, Macomb Northern North came storming back. It scored two unanswered to tie the game up 2-2. The …

Clawson to Play in 2nd-Round Boys Soccer Playoffs Tonight

Plenty of highlights from the opening round of districts for Oakland County teams on Monday and Tuesday. More games are on tap this week.

High school soccer fans didn’t have to wait long for top teams in the state to face each other in the playoffs. Troy High and Rochester Adams, two of the state's top programs, played in the opening round on Monday. The game didn’t disappoint, but that was just one of the highlights in the first round of districts.   Here’s a roundup of how Oakland County area teams fared. District 37 (Host - Notre Dame Prep) Clawson wanted a second round game against Macomb Lutheran North. The Trojans got their wish. They beat Harper Woods on Monday 4-0 at home and Lutheran North shutout St. Clair Shores South Lake 3-0. The teams will meet in the second round on Wednesday. Lutheran North has eliminated Clawson from the playoffs for two straight years. …

Week in Review: Clawson Boys Tennis, Cross Country Team Rebuilding

Both Trojans teams had two meets last week for the first time this season.

The Clawson varsity boys tennis team graduated eight seniors from a squad that won the Macomb Conference Silver division last year. Rebuilding for the Trojans team is going slowly this season, but head coach Warren Block said it's not because his kids aren’t improving. Clawson just hasn't had any games to play. This year’s team opened the season on Aug. 24 with a 5-1 loss to Royal Oak and didn’t have a game for nearly three full weeks. Schools without enough players to field tennis teams this season left Clawson’s schedule thin to begin with and some cancellations have made it worse.  Last week, the Trojans were supposed to play three games, but Mt. Clemens didn’t show up at Clawson City Park on Wednesday for the schools scheduled meet. “…

The Trojans (14-3-2) overwhelmed the Eagles on offense and needed only 21 minutes to score eight goals in the first half. “The field was very open tonight, Madison only had nine (players) tonight, so we put out nine,” Clawson coach Jared Kullman said. “It …
