Curiosity killed the cat my mother would always tell me, as I constantly badgered her with questions throughout my childhood. But for me those inquiries, and the effervescent desire to learn and discover brought me to journalism.

I was raised in Sterling Heights, Mich., as a first generation Italian-American, in a home where English wasn't always the first language. Because of such, I developed a great fondness for the written word. I also began to grow a taste for the designers and trends that made up the global world of fashion.

In a few short weeks I will be earning my Bachelor of Arts in both Journalism and Fashion Merchandising and Design from Wayne State University.

I had always been interested in the doings of the community, discovering what made it tick, and meeting the entrepreneurs of the businesses we often frequent. Journalism just seemed natural.

But so did fashion. I had been raised in a home where Milan Fashion Week, was a must-watch for the entire family, and where personal style was always nurtured.

Throughout college I worked at Real Detroit Weekly, HOUR Detroit Magazine, Detroit Home, the Somerset Collection Holiday Magazine, and my school's newspaper, The South End. I have done everything from fact checking stories, and interviewing celebrities, to styling photo shoots and reporting on local businesses.

Just recently I returned from New York City where I interned at the Giorgio Armani Corporation and at Vogue Magazine. Two experiences I'll cherish forever. Now back in Michigan, I feel inspired and more ready than ever to uncover all that is wonderful about the state, we all call home.
