Bio I'm excited to be covering Clawson as your Patch local editor. I'm originally from Saginaw, Mich. and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University. I've worked in several newsrooms across Michigan and also Ohio. Before coming to Patch, I was a reporting intern at the Associated Press in Detroit where I covered a range of topics including Detroit Public Schools and national trends.
Throughout college, I worked for my student newspaper and completed internships at the Detroit Free Press, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch, WLAJ ABC 3 in Lansing and The Saginaw News. My journalism experiences helped me discover my love for education reporting and digging into communities to find those untold stories.
When I'm not chasing news, I enjoy watching movies, volunteering in the community and exploring different restaurants and entertainment in the Metro Detroit area. I'm a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
Politics
I typically have liberal views toward most issues, however I am open to different perspectives and ideas when it comes to politics.
Religion
I'm a Christian and I believe faith can move mountains.
Local Hot-Button Issues
Cut funding is an issue both the city and school district face. Officials continue to explore ways to offset the losses in state and federal funding as well as a decline in property values.

I was sent a reply, from a CW, and it never made it out to the page, Transparency? using initials sending to a private email address, then not going public is in essence what the moms are saying no transparancy, what's up? if a staff member sent to me, to inform me the behind the scenes, then say so, I can then play along, sounds like the Moms are the judges and jury.

Hi there, Nicquel.
I write for the Fernale Patch, and while I was covering something there, I heard about this event at Black Lotus: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=107489752671527
Do you have a story planned about this? If not, could I write one for you? Thanks!

Nicquel;
My name is Stephanie Schneider. I am currently a CLC for Troy Patch. However, I initially applied to be a news and events contributor.
At training, I was told to contact the editors of launched Patch sites in my area, to see if they can use a writer or photographer.
I have a BA in English and a minor in journalism, and have worked for Real Detroit Weekly, Macomb Monthly Magazine, Oakland Lakefront Magazine and The Spinal Column Newsweekly.
My email address is Stephanie_schneider17@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Schneider
