5 Ways to Get Ready for This Year's Down on Main

The ever-popular Down on Main Car Show returns to Clawson for its 15th annual celebration on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Clawson Lions Club event seems to get bigger and better every year. So, here's a quick primer on what's scheduled to go down and how you can get ready.

1. Who benefits? Proceeds from the show will go to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Michigan Eye Bank, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor and other sight and hearing related organizations.

2. Lions Club: Down on Main is the centerpiece of the Lions Club yearly fundraising efforts to benefit local charities. T-shirts, snow cones, 50/50 raffle tickets and chances to win great prizes will be sold at the event.

3. Who's going to be there? The Lions Club expects over 10,000 car owners and visitors to come to town and ogle at more than 500 entries, ranging from antiques to street rods, muscle cars, trucks, boats, choppers, antique campers and bicycles and stretching down Main Street (Livernois) from 14 Mile Road south to the city limits.

4. How to get involved? If you have a car you'd like to show off, you can download and fill out the application at cityofclawson.com (PDF). Entry costs are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the event. If you're interested in being involved a sponsor, download this sponsorship application (PDF).

5. What does it cost? The event is free for spectators! So, be sure to bring the family and check out all that Down on Main has to offer.
