Bar hoppers will descend upon downtown Clawson on Saturday for the annual Spirit Crawl that will benefit two local funds.
Organizer Linda Morrill said participants who sign up by Wednesday will receive a T-shirt; on-site registration will be available but won't include a T-shirt. Attendees will receive discounts and specials at participating businesses:
- Black Lotus
- Royal Kubo
- Renshaw Lounge
- Clawson Fraternal Order of Eagles
- The Drive-In (which will have a contest during the event)
Bar crawlers will spend about an hour at each destination.
"There will probably be about 100 people (at the crawl)," Morrill said.
Morrill said she started hosting the bar crawl in 2009. While the bar crawls for the Jimmy Marvin Memorial Scholarship and Senior All Night Party are typically held separately, Morrill said she decided to combine them this year.
The Jimmy Marvin Memorial is an annual scholarship awarded to Clawson seniors each year in honor of Marvin, a 19-year-old Clawson resident who died of cancer Jan. 31, 2004. The Clawson High School Senior All Night Party will take place at the end of the school year at the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Shelby Township.
Tickets for the bar crawl cost $15 and include the T-shirt and discounts. Those who register the day of the event can pay a $10 donation, Morrill said. There will also be 50/50 raffles available.
