Get Out: Band Festival, Police Bowl-a-Thon, Pancake Breakfast

A roundup of weekend happenings in Clawson and surrounding areas for March 4-6.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Clawson Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and events to attend in the area:

1. Band Festival

 Where/when: on Friday 3:30-8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why go: Clawson High School is hosting the District 16 Band Festival this weekend. Bands and orchestras from Clawson High School as well as surrounding areas including Troy, Rochester, Warren, Sterling Heights and others will be performing.

2. Mom 2 Mom Sale

Where/when: on Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Why go: Moms can shop for new and gently used clothes, toys, games, books, baby equipment and supplies and maternity wear. There will also be a limited number of boutique vendors and items from Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Avon, Mary Kay, Thirty One Gifts and Simple Comforts.

Pricing: $2. All proceeds will help fund the Save African Project.  

3. Police Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser

Where/when: Thunderbird Lanes, 400 W. Maple Rd., Troy, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday

Why go:  The  bowl-a-thon raises funds for its annual scholarship for Clawson students pursuing careers in law enforcement. Participants get three games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and pop. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, as well as a cash bar.

Pricing: $25 at the door

4. ABCs of Growing Herbs

Where/when: , 4901 Coolidge Hwy., Royal Oak, at 1 p.m. Saturday

Why go:  Learn how to successfully grow herbs. This free presentation will also include tips on how to include your own herbs in your cooking.

5. Lions Club Pancake Breakfast

Where/when: , 8 a.m.-noon Sunday

Why go: The Clawson Lions Club is having a pancake breakfast to benefit several community causes supported by the organization.

Pricing: $5 for eggs to order, French toast, strawberry or blueberry pancakes and a beverage.
