Weekend Planner: Car Show, Corn Roasts, Farmers Market and More

A roundup of weekend happenings in Clawson and surrounding areas.

1. Down on Main Street Car Show

From 8-4 p.m. Saturday experience a pre-Woodward Dream Cruise event that features antique cars, street rods, muscle cars, trucks, boats, choppers and more in downtown Clawson. The event is free and open to the public. Interested in registering your vehicle for the show? Download the entry form, and send it in.

2. Corn Roast

The Clawson Fraternal Order of Eagles will host its annual Corn Roast from noon-7 p.m. Saturday during the Down on Main Street Car Show. The group will be selling beer, corn on the cob, hamburgers, hot dogs and more.

3. Backpack Drive

The Clawson Police Department is sponsoring its fourth annual Stuff-a-Backpack-Drive from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Clawson Farmers Market. There will also be a collection box in the lobby of City Hall through Aug. 20

4. Country Fair & Corn Roast

The will host a corn roast and fun fair from 9-4 p.m. Saturday. The day promises live music, dunk-a-cop, bounce houses, local Artisans art fair, children's pie and corn eating contest, and of course, roasted corn. There will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

5. Field's Florist Cash Mob

Fields Florist, 1800 W. 14 Mile Rd., in Royal Oak is set to get cash mobbed on Saturday at noon. Members of the community will meet at noon in the store parking lot for a few minutes. Then they will mob the florist shop and purchase items between $10-$20. This will help the local florist stay afloat and she, in turn, can give back to the community as she has done for many years.
