Back to the Books: School Supply Lists by Grade Level

The first day of school in Clawson is a week away and parents are  purchasing supplies for the kids. The needs for students are different at every school. Following is a list of back-to-school essentials, based on the information provided by each school.

• 1st grade: plastic pencil box, scissors, 24-count Crayons, Pink Pearl eraser, paint shirt, gym shoes, Kleenex, large backpack.
• 2nd grade: Poly-plastic folders with pockets and middle fasteners, large backpack, Kleenex, 24-count Crayons, scissors, erasers, crayon/pencil box, Clorox wipes.
• 3rd grade: pencils, pens, glue sticks, Crayons, composition books, notebook paper, post-it notes, erasers, highlighters, pencil boxes, Clorox wipes.
• 4th grade: pencils, erasable pens, crayons, colored pencils, Kleenex, composition notebooks, index cards, 3-ring binder, folder, pencil box.
• 5th grade: highlighters, folders, markers, two-pocket folders, notebooks, pencils

• Kindergarten/1st grade: water color markers, dry erase markers, glue sticks, large backpack, tissue, athletic shoes.
• 2nd/3rd grade: glue sticks, tissue, composition notebooks, stickers, sticky notes, deck of playing cards, pencils.
• 4th/5th grade: pencils, composition notebooks, index cards, yellow legal pads, highlighter, pencil top erasers.

School supplies for middle school classes vary by subject. Here are some of the suggested items for core classes, such as science, math, language arts and social studies.

• Three-ring binder
• Five-subject and one-subject spiral notebooks
• Divider sheets
• Calculator
• Colored pencils
• Highlighters
• Folders 

The high school doesn't provide a detailed supply list and students are encouraged to purchase basic essentials such as pencils, pens and notebooks. Teachers will provide syllabi that give students the specific needs for each class.
